Taking inspiration from our ancestors and playfully marking the time of year WILD PLAY is about supporting the children in independent exploration of the environment. Around our daily routines and games we will offer craft and cauldron cooking around the fire, fire skills and an introduction to tool use and construction. As we celebrate the abundant apple harvest and the sun before winter, nature offers inspiration for fire and lanterns, besoms (brooms), masks, wands.
Typically our days start and end with basecamp routine where we meet, discuss and share. Most importantly, we let the children take the lead and whole heartedly support the sessions becoming child-led.
The sessions are led by Forest School Leaders and supported by a strong, energetic and committed team with childcare, education or outdoor ed backgrounds.
COVID 19 We are pleased to say that we will be continuing to run in small groups. Updated guidance for the running of out of school settings permits us to run groups for up to 15 children; keeping these groups as consistent as possible. We have elected to keep 3 separate small groups operating independently. This half term the group size may increase marginally to accommodate siblings as one household, but staying in line with ratios set for this age group.
We look forward to seeing you in the woods!
